Street Safety

Street Safety is a workshop designed to engage young people and begin to get them thinking about some of the potential dangers to them while out and about. We at Be Safe strongly believe that the best form of personal safety is to spot trouble early and take steps to remove yourself from the situation.

In contrast many young people rarely look out for potential problems and only realise there is trouble when it is right in front of them. At this point it can become very difficult for them to remove themselves, as they will often see it as "Backing Down" or "Losing Face" in front of others.

During the workshop the participants will be asked to explore real life scenarios and decide on a course of action at various points during the scene. Based upon thier decisions they will then explore some of the possible outcomes and then decide which options provide greater safety or greater danger.

While it is impossible to guarentee a person's safety, and it must be said that young people often seem to be inherant risk takers, this workshop empowers the participants to make some informed choices regarding thier safety rather than going with the flow.
